Certified Professional Builders (CPB) win big at Home Builder Association of Mississippi 2012 “Best in Mississippi” Annual Awards
The Best in Mississippi Awards recognize the outstanding work of builders and remodelers throughout the state of Mississippi. Winners of this prestigious program are chosen by a group of five confidential judges and selected through numerous aspects of each project. A total of 11 Certified Professional Builders received awards at this year’s annual Best in Mississippi awards.

This website will provide you with a listing of licensed Mississippi builders and remodelers who have chosen to pursue professionalism through the Certified Professional Builder program.
The purpose of the Certified Professional Builder Program is to establish criteria for home builders to assist in consumer awareness and professionalism through education, professional development, and customer satisfaction.
Becoming a Mississippi Certified Professional Builder provides an opportunity for builders to pursue professional development through education and customer satisfaction. By agreeing to become a Certified Professional Builder you will agree to meet standards beyond the licensing requirements of the Mississippi State Board of Contractors. Through the certification Builder will stay current on housing trends, and the home buyer buyer receives the benefits offered through the program.
Home Buyer Benefits
Buying a home is the most important investment that most people will make. Certified Professional Builders, Remodelers, and Builder/Remodelers agree to place the customer first and as a participant in the program will:
•Use the Homeowners Handbook adopted by the Mississippi Housing Institute and adhere to its standards.
•Maintain appropriate insurance coverage including builders risk, general liability, and workers' compensation.
•Agree to offer binding arbitration.
All Certified Professional Builders are required to adhere to the following:
•Must have built at least ten (10) homes or completed five (5) residential remodeling jobs of $20,000 or more.
•Must maintain appropriate insurance coverage including builders risk, general liability and workers' compensation.
•Must be a member of the local and state Home Builders Association.
•Must apply for recertification annually.
•Must attend four (4) hours of continuing education each year for recertification.
•Must purchase and distribute the Homeowners Handbook and adhere to its standards to ensure customer satisfaction and the integrity of the program.
•Must be licensed and in good standing by the Mississippi State Board of Contractors.
•Main occupation must be residential building, remodeling or commercial building and/or remodeling.
•Must agree to offer binding arbitration with every contract.
•Participants that have had foreclosures (in the last four (4) years) or bankruptcies (in the last seven (7) years) whether it be personal, business or partnership, are not eligible for participating in the program.
•Letter of reference must accompany the application: two (2) homebuyers, two (2) suppliers, and one (1) banker.
•Must adhere to the Code of Ethics adopted buy the Mississippi Housing Institute.
